ABOUT US

In 1889, Thomas Watton established the "Thomas Watton & Son's Scrap Yard" (pictured) in Studley, Warwickshire, England.  He used the railway to send his scrap to Round Oak Steelworks in Birmingham, and, although unable to read or write, Thomas' business flourished through his hard work and dedication.

Thomas passed away in 1950 and left the company to his youngest son, James.  James kept up the family tradition by bringing in his 3 boys to help run the yard.  As a child, Raymond made his grandfather's scrap yard his own playground.  He used to play with the old coin meters, trying to find the odd coin in hopes to get "rich".

James Watton died in 1987, leaving the business to his 3 sons, who continue to run it today.

Raymond tried his hand in various jobs throughout his younger years, until he realized that he, too, was destined to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers and become a scrap metal merchant.

Though he has chosen to focus primarily on catalytic converters and the precious metals therein, he is interested in all aspects of the trade.

In 2003, he met and married an American woman, thereby relocating he and his business to New England. In May 2007, he fulfilled yet another dream by becoming an American citizen.

Ray's only regret: that he didn't come to the States sooner.  He loves the American way of life and all the opportunities that come with it.
